Award-winning actress Judy Ann Santos recently added another accolade to her career, winning Best Actress at the 45th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal for her powerful performance in “Espantaho.” This recognition follows her earlier Best Actress win at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival for the same film.
Batangas State University’s Chemical Engineering team brought home second place at the World Engineering Day Hackathon 2025 in Paris, France. Their innovative project, which helps farmers combat water contamination, uses phosphate-absorbing beads made from eelgrass biochar and kaolinite clay—natural materials that purify wastewater and convert harmful phosphates into eco-friendly fertilizers. Team members include Trixie Mae Parañaque, Abraham Quintia Jr., Krishna Laida Sadsad, and Charisse May Castillo.
Wesmin Pacalso, a native of Nueva Vizcaya, was crowned Miss Independent International 2025, outshining 17 other contestants from 16 countries. In addition to her main title, she took home several awards, including Best in National Costume, Best Body, Best Catwalk, Best in Evening Gown, and Miss Independent Ambassador.
