Boy Abunda has been in the industry for decades and he witnessed how showbiz evolved throughout the years.
In an interview with “Stronger Together: The GMA Pinoy TV Podcast,” Boy shared how he remains humble despite his success and fame.
“My relationship with Nanay did that. Kasi sa lahat ng bagay na meron ako, sa lahat ng bagay na narating ko at lahat ng mga pangarap na hindi ko natupad, ang constant lang sa buhay ko, basta mabigyan ko ng lahat ng dapat ibigay ang nanay ko, that’s all that mattered.”
Just like any other artists who come and go, Boy is well-aware that nothing is forever in showbiz.
“Knowing this is so temporary humbles me. I am just as good as my last show,” Boy said.
All the wise words Boy dishes out in his interviews are deeply-rooted to in his admiration to for his mother, Lesing Abunda.
“Even though that Nanay has passed on, she has remained my compass. I always remember Nanay’s words when she said, you are who you are.”
With all the accolades he received being a TV Host, publicist, talent manager, endorser, and professor, there’s only one thing that he would always be the proudest of.
“[Being] the child of my mother. The one immutable in the business is nothing lasts forever. Kaya ako, I don’t mind after this career, hindi nila ako maalala, nobody remembers my body of work that I have done some important interviews in this business, I’m okay with that. For as long as people remember me as the Boy who encouraged this country to make mothers proud, I’m fine.”
