Drew Arellano sees his 'Biyahe ni Drew' tapings as his 'me time'

Like any other parents, Biyahe ni Drew host Drew Arellano stressed the importance for parents like him and his wife, 'Chika Minute' host Iya Villania, to have some 'me time' or time for themselves, every once in a while.

“I think it's very important to have your me time lalo na when you have a lot of kids. And I think 'yung nagiging me time ko would be or is pretty much my 'Biyahe(ni Drew),' he said in his interview on the Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel podcast.

Drew revealed that he would usually leave to shoot the show on Wednesdays and return home on Thursdays.

Despite taking some me time through his travels and shoots for his travel documentary program, Drew would still try to call or video call his family when he can. In areas where his phone doesn't have service, he would look at his family pictures instead, “'cause you naturally miss them.”

“So the overnight is just the right amount of time na you get your me time and at the same time, uwing uwi ka na. So when you come home, you're like 'can't wait to see them again,” he said.

He continued, “S'yempre, as parents, we also need that so we can have, I guess a better time with the kids, quality time, 'yung stress mo nawala na ng konti so that, I guess, 'yung demeanor mo and your attitude towards everything, lalo na when you enter the house, is probably leaning towards the positive rather than the other one."

Drew and Iya first talked about the importance of having me time on their podcast Life with the Arellanos back in February.

The couple said on their YouTube video, “Our schedule on a day-to-day basis is pretty full with family obligations and work commitments. We share how we squeeze in a little time for ourselves.”

They also said that they have different ways of having their “me time” and that they “respect each other's me time because we know its value for each other."
