Primetime action hero Ruru Madrid recently stirred up social media with his new, strikingly short haircut. On Instagram, the Kapuso star revealed his fresh look with the caption, "Bagong yugto, bagong tabas," signaling an exciting new phase in his showbiz career.

This dramatic change was part of Ruru's preparation for his upcoming inspirational drama film, Green Bones. In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the Kapuso star explained that his new haircut is a key element of his role preparation.

"Ang aking prepasyon ang aking buhok. Ito 'yung pinaka-maiksing buhok nagawa ko sa buong buhay ko. Pero sobrang okay kasi nga you know parang lahat naman ay I'm willing to give everything para po sa larangan po nitong pag-arte at kung ito po ay makakatulong po sa ating pelikula, why not?" he shared.

Ruru also expressed his excitement about participating in workshops and deepening his understanding of filmmaking.

"At the same time almost every day nagpupunta ako sa lab or workshops. Syempre ang tagal ko po gumawa ng teleserye, ang tagal ko pong gumawa ng Black Rider parang one year kami nag-shoot so ibang medium na 'yung gagawin natin so it's cinema. So ibang preperasyon, ibang framework ng paggamit ng pag-arte, ibang style because it's cinema, so ang daming pagbabago. But you know, I always love the challenge and sobrang gusto ko rin na natututo ako dito sa proseso na ito," he said.

Green Bones is the official entry of GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs for the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December 2024. This film will also mark Ruru’s debut in the cinema festival.

"Punong-puno 'yung puso ko ngayon kasi parang it's actually my first ever MMMF project. Pinangarap ko ito last year, na-manifest siya, so sobrang grateful dahil po kumbaga isang pangarap na naman po ang natupad," he shared.

The highly anticipated film tells the story of a man imprisoned for the murder of his sister and her daughter. As he approaches his parole, a newly assigned prison guard becomes determined to keep him behind bars, no matter what it takes.

Alongside Ruru, Kapuso stars Dennis Trillo and Kylie Padilla are also part of the star-studded cast. Green Bones will be directed by award-winning director Zig Dulay and written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee and 2023 MMFF Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza. The film is also part of the recent partnership of GMA Pictures and Columbia Pictures, together with the horror special film, KMJS' Gabi ng Lagim: The Movie.
