Being a member of a large and famous showbiz clan can be a bit of a challenge for some actors, but not for young Kapuso newcomer RJ Padilla. The son of actor Rommel Padilla, he admitted to have gone through many auditions and not use his last name to get into show business. In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com during the With A Smile live chat last August 7, RJ talked about his role as Dean's sidekick, his early struggles, and being compared to his brother Daniel.

At saka pareho kaming andun para sa kaibigan namin," kuwento ni RJ about his With A Smile character.

The said morning show is his first project, and the young actor is very happy to be a part of it. He even recalled his audition struggles, which lasted for almost a year. "Masarap, masarap [ang feeling]. Actually last year, puro audition. Almost one year akong puro audition. Ngayon natanggap ako sa With A Smile, grabe, anlaking pasalamat ko sa GMA na kinuha nila ako, lalo pa ngayon na malakas ang rating ng With A Smile, tuwang tuwa ako."

We asked RJ if he sought help from his relatives in entering showbiz, and he fervently denied it. "No, never.

With so many Padillas in the industry, how would he make himself stand out?

"Ang difference ko siguro sa ibang Padilla, kapag ako kinausap mo in person, maririnig mo 'yung tunog eh, pati 'yung kilos ko, as a Padilla. Pero in character, puwede kong tanggalin 'yun.

As for any competition between him and his brother Daniel Padilla, this is what the fresh-faced RJ had to say.
