Barbie Forteza shares why she stays active on TikTok, social media

By Bianca Geli
'Anak Ni Waray Vs. Anak Ni Biday' actress Barbie Forteza says she's different in real life than what people see from her on TV.

Barbie Forteza is one of prominent celebrities on social media, with over two million followers on Instagram and 3.9 million followers on TikTok.

Barbie talked about how she uses social media to give a glimpse into her personal life during the Anak Ni Waray Vs. Anak Ni Biday virtual media conference on January 14.

She added, "It's also a way of de-stressing kaysa nakahiga ka lang sa kuwarto, siguro mas okay na mag-TikTok ka naman once in a while.

"This pandemic natuto ako kahit papaano na magluto, napilitan kang mag-workout. Nakakatuwa lang kasi parang in a way nagiging isa 'yung routine nating lahat lahat. Nagkaroon tayo ng quarantine routine."

Furthermore, Barbie said she wanted to show a more mature and deeper side of herself through her online content.

"Actually kaya ko rin po sinimulan 'yung YouTube channel ko kasi I wanted them to know the real Barbie. Kasi, I'm a little bit deeper than that, in all fairness to me.

She also emphasized how she foresees social media as an important tool for celebrities to reach their fans, especially during this current pandemic.

Barbie said, "Personally, yes kasi unti-unti nagiging digital na tayo. Itong mediacon natin, virtual na. 'Yung MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) via streaming na rin.

"Lahat ng tao nasa digital world na para maging relevant ka as an artist, dapat sumabay ka rin doon, dapat nakikita ka rin doon hindi lang sa TV. It's a win-win situation kumbaga. I get to stay relevant, updated 'yung mga supporters, and malaking tulong din siya ngayong pandemic, financially."

The Kapuso actress said she also became more of a responsible adult during quarantine and she's more active in planning for the future

"If there's one thing na ipagpapasalamat ko sa pandemyang ito, it made me a more responsible adult.

"At least ngayon ready ako, pero paano in the future? So sinimulan ko siyang planuhin. I've made some plans last year na hopefully this year ma-accomplish ko.
