Christian Bautista shares that his mentorship does not end after 'The Clash'

As a judge, is Christian Bautista strict, or does he spoon-feed the Clashers? Read on to find out more.

Asia's Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista is back as a mentor in the hit musical competition The Clash. Despite being a mentor in the series, he admits that he still tries to mentor former participants he was able to work with.

“Sa pag-judge, sa pag-comment strict obviously. Pero like, kapag tapos na 'yong season, tapos katrabaho ko na sila sa All Out Sundays, I do my best na to share kung ano 'yong alam ko,” Christian said in an interview on the Update with Nelson Canlas podcast.

He added that he tries to give them advice on how to improve their craft by asking if he can give them suggestions instead of using the strict demeanor he had during the competition.

“I think ganun ko shine-share 'yong mentoring ko kasi ganun din kami tinulungan, winelcome ng aming idols before when we started, nung ako ay contestant lang,” he said.

He added, “Sila Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera and ganu'n din nila kami sinupport nung bago kami, tinuruan, tinulungan din nila kami…So gusto ko lang din i-return yong favor.”

The 5th season of The Clash aired its pilot episode on January 22, which was met with heartwarming support from viewers as it trended on its premiere night.

Hosts Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz, judges Aiai Delas Alas, Lani Misalucha, and Christian himself, together with the top 30 Clashers, performed a showstopping opening number to welcome its latest season.

Christian said that aside from singing, The Clash also teaches the contestants how to project their presence on stage.

“Paano ka ba tatayo on stage? Yong confidence mo at hindi lang yon. Nasaan ba yong camera?” he said.

He added, “Ito lately ko lang natutunan 'to wala naman nagturo sa akin nito. You're giving your best pero nakatalikod ka pala sa camera paano ka maa-appreciate ng tao.”

For Asia's Romantic Balladeer, it feels that Clashers “graduate” after the season because “ang dami na nila ding alam.”
