About the Show

Pulang Araw is a family drama that tells stories of courage, sacrifice, and hardships that every Filipino family has. These stories were inspired by the tales of the unsung heroes who defied the odds of World War II and the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

This is the first family drama of GMA that brings together five of the biggest stars in the country starring Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards. Together with Dennis Trillo in a very special role.

Barbie plays Adelina Dela Cruz, a selfless Filipina ready to sacrifice everything to protect her family. Sanya plays Teresita Borromeo, who together with her sister Adelina, will rise to fame as a Vaudeville performer in the Philippines. However, Teresita will be forced to serve as a comfort woman during the Japanese occupation. David portrays the reserved Japanese man named Hiroshi Tanaka, and Alden plays Eduardo Dela Cruz, a brave and determined young Filipino man who will do everything to fight for his country.

Meanwhile, Dennis takes on his first villain role as a ruthless Japanese soldier named Col. Yuta Saitoh.

Pulang Araw is a primetime offering of GMA Entertainment Group headed by Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Assistant Vice President for Drama Helen Rose Sese, Program Manager Edlyn Tallada-Abuel, and Executive Producer Shielyn Atienza.

Under the helm of brilliant director Dominic Zapata and award-winning writer Suzette Doctolero, Pulang Araw airs on GMA Prime beginning July 29.
