Tonipet Gaba bids 'Pop Talk' goodbye with a heartfelt letter

An emotional Tonipet Gaba took to social media to reflect on the end of his program, Pop Talk.

The long-running lifestyle and food review show will air its finale on Tuesday, October 5, on GTV.

“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa humigit-kumulang na labing-walong taong pakikisalo sa akin,” wrote Tonipet on Pop Talk's Facebook page.

“I am who I am because of each and every member of our Pop Talk and GMA Public Affairs community.

“Wala pong umalis. Wala pong nang-iwan. Bagkus ay mas lumawak pa po ang ating tahanan, salamat sa napakagandang relasyon sa pagitan ng ating mga magigiting na himpilan. Pangako, hindi po ako titigil sa pagtulong sa ating restaurant, hotel at tourism industries Lalo na po sa mga panahong ito. Hindi, kahit kailan. 'Yan ang aking panata.”

Tonipet cited how the pandemic took its toll on Pop Talk, making it difficult for everyone in the production to carry on given the show's demanding format.

“Pahirap na po kasi nang pahirap ang pag-shoot dahil sa pabago-bagong mga restriksyong ipinapataw sa aking pinakamamahal na mga industriya bunsod ng nakababahalang sitwasyon ng Covid sa ating bansa,” the TV host explained.

“Kapag mas ligtas at normal na po ang mga kalakaran, ako po ay babalik. Pop na pop kayong lahat sa aking puso. Sana'y huwag na huwag n'yo po itong malilimutan.”

Tonipet said he would take a break in the meantime.

However, he also hinted at a new project in the morning timeslot but didn't reveal more details.

In the end, Tonipet expressed love to all of Pop Talk's loyal viewers, who tirelessly supported the show throughout the years.

“Kapuso ko kayong tunay. Habambuhay. Mahal na mahal na mahal ko po kayong lahat,” said Tonipet.
