What's with the blonde look? Mikee Quintos explains
Going blonde to promote her single “Just Enough” was Mikee's idea.
Mikee Quintos stunned fans some few weeks back after posting a series of photos showing her sporting blonde hair.
The look, it turned out, was part of her promotional campaign for her new single “Just Enough” under GMA Playlist.
In hindsight, it's not the first time that Mikee appeared publicly with blonde locks.
Fans, however, could sense that the Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento star was up with something based on the glam feel of the pictures teased by Mikee.
“I wanted to try something new. So I went for a new look - me, my glam team, and my management team din - when we were preparing for this new project,” Mikee told GMANetwork.com.
It was Mikee's idea to embrace a blonde look to go with her new persona as a singer.
“Gusto ko mahiwalay 'yong branding ko as Mikee as a singer dun sa kilala na ng mga tao na Mikee na umaarte.”
The fresh look, of course, was just part of the entire package, with Mikee's artistry as a recording artist still the main focus.
“All of my songs released before were as my characters, as Mila [Encantadia], as Lira [Mulawin vs. Ravena], as Chef Apple [The Lost Recipe], but never as Mikee. So this is the very first that [I'll be releasing a song] as Mikee,” she said to reporters in a virtual press conference held on Friday, September 24.
The press conference coincided with the launch of “Just Enough” which made a strong debut on streaming platforms including iTunes and Spotify.
The truth is that Mikee has always been into singing but found herself taking the acting route when she joined show business as a wide-eyed newbie.
“When I got into showbiz bago sa akin ang acting so dun ako parang nakaka-feel ng growth, mas nakaka-feel na this is something new. So all my energy was focused to developing my acting,” Mikee told reporters.
“At one point nga 'pag tinatanong ako ng mga tao, 'Singing or acting?' Hindi ko talaga masagot until for a few years, acting na 'yong kaya kong isagot.
“So I feel na it's time naman na magfu-focus naman ako sa singing kahit papaano,” recalled Mikee.
Mikee has no regrets and feels the timing for her to dabble in music at this time is perfect.
“Naniniwala ako kay God and mas tama 'yong plan niya for me kesa sa mga gusto ko. That's how I go about my everyday life, ganun 'yong mindset ko, kung para sa 'yo, para sa 'yo,” Mikee said meaningfully.
