Cherie Gil to her former sister-in-law and Onanay director Gina Alajar, "She has and will always be my 'ate.'"

After getting back from her meaningful trip in Vietnam, Cherie Gil decided to honor special women in her life every week who she admires and looks up to.

Cherie Gil shares her realizations from traveling alone

The veteran actress calls them "Hera" which symbolizes ideal woman. In Greek mythology, Hera is the goddess of women, marriage, family, and childbirth.

For her first entry, Cherie honored her younger sister and former actress, Elaine Eigenmann, in time for her birthday. The latter is now based in the US and currently works as a program manager at an integrated manufacturing solutions provider.

The Onanay star couldn't help but gush over Elaine whom she described as her confidante and silent wingman.

She wrote on Instagram, "TODAY I'd like to honor my sister ELAINE EIGENMANN who is celebrating her birthday, as my HERA . She is 10 years my junior.

"And I may have not given her the very much deserved mention because that's just how she IS!

“She never made herself stand out nor even seeked the spotlight (like the rest of us eigenmanns hehe )

"She has always been in the wings watching us, cheering for us , supporting us. But through it all she has been my confidante and silent wingman.

"Her laughter is contagious and her energy lights up the room each and every time. Making sure everyone is happy.

"She has the biggest heart I know. one that forgives wholeheartedly. Loves the family and has always been most devoted and loyal. In fact she is more wise and mature decades beyond my years."

"One of the strongest women I know. Marnie we fondly call her! I admire you , I salute you , I thank you, I love you and I'm so proud to be your sister !!!"

I've Been inspired by the strong women of Vietnam that I now want to honor those women in my life I look up to and admire. Every week I will post those women who have become my “Hera “ I've made up that word now as I referred to google for the right term to use and this is what it said : Whether you like it or not, masculine terms can be given a universal meaning (especially in the absence of a gender-neutral term) that their feminine equivalent cannot take. This no doubt reflects a male-chauvinist point of view, but one that is so widespread that one has to accept it. Using Hero for a female is not at all wrong but it's also a fact that it is largely used for men.. . . So I beg to defer ... TODAY I'd like to honor my sister ELAINE EIGENMANN who is celebrating her birthday, as my HERA . She is 10 years my junior. And I may have not given her the very much deserved mention because that's just how she IS! She never made herself stand out nor even seeked the spotlight (like the rest of us eigenmanns hehe ) She has always been in the wings watching us , cheering for us , supporting us. But through it all she has been my confidante and silent wingman. Her laughter is contagious and her energy lights up the room each and every time. Making sure everyone is happy. She has the biggest heart I know. one that forgives wholeheartedly. Loves the family and has always been most devoted and loyal. In fact she is more wise and mature decades beyond my years. One of the strongest women I know. Marnie we fondly call her! I admire you , I salute you , I thank you, I love you and I'm so proud to be your sister !!! Happiest birthday!!!! Thank you for always being there for me and the rest of the fam no matter what !!! I'm so grateful I have you to rely and depend on #sisterlove ! #whoisyourHERA @e_laine73

This week, Cherie honored her former sister-in-law and Onanay director Gina Alajar.

Gina is the former wife of Cherie's brother Michael de Mesa. They have three sons--Ryan, Geoff, and AJ Eigenmann--who have also become part of showbiz.

The 'copycat' actress always sees Gina as an amazing actress.

She recounted, "Believe me, I was pretty nervous to come to our set on our first day.

“I have always looked up to her as an amazing actress from the very beginning.

“She is one I highly respect and admire given her body of work and recognition through so many awards."

She also shared the amazing coincidence that happened in their careers.

"Here's a trivia! My very first film at 9 years old was in her movie COFRADIA where she played the lead.

“Having said that, we belonged to the same mother studio that actually launched our careers!

“And that also goes to show how long she has been in my life!" the 55-year-old revealed.

But above all these, Cherie said that being a supportive ate is the best attribute she can give to Gina.

She shared, "But more than and above all that she has and will always be my 'ate.' Mother to 3 of my nephews and grandmother to 6 of my grandnieces/nephews.

"I have seen her survive through difficult times in a woman's life and I appreciate and admire her even more.

"She has been present in my most difficult situations up until now, always and genuinely lending an ear and heart with compassion and concern. Continues to love and value our family.

"Her energy [is] so contagious despite some physical limitations that will never seem to stop her.

"She's my life's #peg Tuding Alajar @ginalajar #whoisyourHERa"
