Myrtle Sarrosa doesn't mind the challenge in replacing Jillian Ward as Venice in 'My Ilonggo Girl'
Cosplayer and actress Myrtle Sarrosa admitted that her being the new face of Venice in My Ilonggo Girl will be a bit controversial.
The Sparkle actress told Unang Hirit hosts Suzi Abrera and Shaira Diaz that replacing Jillian Ward as a kontrabida in the high-rating GMA Prime mini-series will be 'challenging.'
Myrtle explained, “I didn't expect na makukuha ko, that I will be casted for the role kasi when they were asking me to portray Venice, isa talaga sa mga concerns ko was 'yung hair.”
“Kasi, nung tinanong nila ako kung puwede ako mag-My Ilonggo Girl, siguro parang wala pa akong one week na nag-red. Tapos sabi ko, 'Will it be possible?' Sabi nila na parang yes, gusto daw talaga nila ng new look. When they gave me the role, sabi ko 'Grabe, magiging challenging 'yung character.'
“Alam ko na magiging controversial din siya na character, pero always game naman ako for challenges.”
While she was in Japan, Myrtle had to double her effort in preparing for the role of Venice and had to study even the nuisances of playing the character.
“Binigyan ako ng about a week to study 'yung character niya, tapos everyday, nasa Japan pa ako noon. So, inaral ko 'yung paggalaw ni Jill everyday. Pinanood ko 'yung My Ilonggo Girl, lahat ng mga existing episodes for three times,” Myrtle said.
“Yung challenging sa acting is normally, when you're portraying a character, kailangan i-build mo siya in scratch. Ito there's a character na kailangan mo aralin 'yung mga nuisances.”

Talking about Jillian Ward, Myrtle stated that working with the Star of the New Gen was an opportunity to scratch off an item from her bucket list.
“I really love working with Jillian, kasi isa 'yun sa mga nasa checklist ko talaga na actresses to work with. Kasi meron na kami dating project na dapat magkasama kami, pero hindi natuloy.
“So, it was really a dream come true to work with her.”
