Before accepting the challenge of portraying a gay role in My Husband’s Lover, Victor Basa admitted to GMANetwork.com that he had apprehensions portraying the character of David.

“Initially may apprehensions talaga. Siyempre, mga lalake tayo,” he revealed during a visit to the set of the controversial show, My Husband’s Lover.

Victor’s character is the ex-boyfriend of Vincent, being played by Tom Rodriguez. This is his first gay role and found portraying David as very challenging.

“This role is very different because, in a sense, I mean I’m playing a gay role which is not simple at all. It’s really out of my comfort zone.”

How then did he tackle such a challenging role?

“I’m trying my best to reflect on the character at maging real person na si David. You can imagine him in real life na he’s a three dimensional, living, breathing character.”

He also adds that coming to the set prepared really helps. “You have to read your script front to back. You should know the whole story until you start injecting emotions. You read it a couple of times over.”

“Sometimes, I acted out in front of the mirror. Importante iyon. You have to know how you deliver it and different options kung papaano mo pwede gawin, ” shared the model-turned-actor.

“Gusto mo iyong viewers mo makakita sila ng character na naiiba talaga sa iyo. Hindi iyong, Ay ganyan na naman iyong acting niya eh,” explained Victor about his role.
