'Maria Clara at Ibarra' director Zig Dulay reiterates importance of collaboration for improvement
For Maria Clara at Ibarra director Zig Dulay, it's important to join in collaboration projects to expand and strengthen one's knowledge in creating or producing movies and TV series. However, he clarified that one still needs to be open-minded to ideas and opinions and to trust the team.
Zig shared his realizations about working for a series in a Facebook post on February 22 and how he slowly learned from his experience that a movie or a series is made up of different elements and not just with its script and filming.
“Hindi siya natatapos sa script lang at shooting, saklaw nito mula sa brainstorming hanggang sa post-production, hanggang sa airing,” he added.
He added, “Maraming aspeto ang nagtutulong-tulong para mabuo ang isang solidong naratibo -- lahat ng aspetong 'yun ay nagkukuwento. Hayaan mong tulungan kang makapagkuwento ng kapwa mo storytellers.”
“Pagsaluhan ninyo 'yung karanasan sa proseso at sabay-sabay kayong matuto at lumago,” he added.
He ended his post thanking the Maria Clara at Ibarra team, as well as the GMA Drama and Creative Team “sa pagkakataon.”
On February 24, the hit fantasy-portal series will air its finale episode after several months of positive feedback and social media trends from the viewers. And as the show nears its end, fans could not help but express how much they will miss the beloved show.
Aside from Zig, series star Dennis Trillo, who plays Crisostomo Ibarra and Simoun in the series, also expressed his gratitude both to the whole production team and the supporters of the series.
“Nais kong ibahagi ang mga kaganapan sa pagtatapos ng aking huling eksena, sa maituturing kong isa sa pinaka makabuluhan at importanteng proyektong kinabilangan ko,” he captioned a post he made on Instagram.
Singer-actor Khalil Ramos has also expressed in a previous interview how honored he felt to be playing the iconic part of Basilio when the series transitioned from Noli Me Tangere to El Filibusterismo, the books written by Jose Rizal the series is based on.
“It was an emotional and rewarding experience to bring this iconic scene from 'El Filibusterismo' to life in #MariaClaraAtIbarra…Muchas Gracias @dennistrillo @zigcarlo,” he captioned in a post.
