Khalil Ramos honored to be part of iconic 'El Filibusterismo' scene in 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'
Kapuso actor Khalil Ramos is one of the newest additions to the hit historical portal fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra.
He plays the grown up Basilio, who was portrayed by child actor Stanley Abuloc in the previous half of the show.
Now a medical student, Basilio returns to his hometown and runs into the mysterious jeweler Simoun. He recognizes him as Crisostomo Ibarra, played by Dennis Trillo, a man who has helped him in the past.
Khalil feels honored to be able to bring to life the iconic scene from the novel which beautifully juxtaposes Simoun's goals as shaped by his bitter experiences and Basilio's goals as shaped by youthful optimism.
He also expressed his gratitude toward his co-star Dennis and series director Zig Dulay for their help as this was one of the first few scenes he shot right after taking the role.
"It was an emotional and rewarding experience to bring this iconic scene from 'El Filibusterismo' to life in #MariaClaraAtIbarra…Muchas Gracias @dennistrillo @zigcarlo," Khalil wrote as he shared a few stills of the scene in the forest.
"Hanggang sa muli! @khalilramos," Dennis wrote in the comments of Khalil's post.
Khalil has been lauded for his portrayal of Basilio, with many saying that he brings warmth to the role.
