Maria Clara at Ibarra to have US watch party
The hit historical portal fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra will be having a special watch party in different parts of the United States in December!
Fans of the critically-acclaimed series will have an early Christmas Gift as Pinoys in the US will be able to watch their favorite series together with the leads online.
The event was announced on the Instagram page of GMA Pinoy TV, the international channel of the GMA Network.
“Join us for the "Maria Clara at Ibarra" Special Watch Party this December 3 at Dollar Hits New York (8 PM EST) and Dollar Hits Los Angeles (5 PM PST),” they posted.
Barbie Forteza (Klay), Julie Ann San Jose (Maria Clara), and Dennis Trillo (Crisostomo Ibarra) will be online, joining fans of the hit series during the watch party.
Aside from them, special guests from the cast, as well as the production team, will be gracing the event. GMA Pinoy TV then ended the post with “We encourage everyone to wear your best Filipiniana attire!”
Maria Clara at Ibarra is about Klay, a Nursing student trying to make ends meet that gets transported into the novel Noli Me Tangere by Dr. Jose Rizal. There, she meets the different characters of the story, including Maria Clara, Crisostomo Ibarra, Fidel (David Licauco), and Sisa (Andrea Torres).
Recently, a scene between Klay and Maria Clara tugged at the hearts of the netizens as they can relate to the character's conversation about gender equality, calling the scene “intense.”
Aside from the emotional and thought-provoking scenes, fans have also loved the chemistry between Fidel and Klay. Some even christened their tandem as 'FiLay.'
David, in a different interview, admitted that he was surprised by the public attention he got because of the series.
“Prior to me playing the role of Fidel, hindi ko naman in-expect na 'yung role ko is magiging this hyped, this big on social media,” he said.
He promised, however, that despite the short scenes between him and Barbie in the previous episodes, fans of 'FiLay' should look forward to the upcoming episodes as more interactions between the two characters will happen.
