How did netizens react to Barbie Forteza and David Licauco's scene in the October 12 episode of 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'?

Maria Clara at Ibarra characters Fidel and Klay have made social media explode with praises for them as last night's episode showed one of the most intense scenes between the two characters.

In the October 12 episode, Klay, played by Barbie Forteza, went into a heated argument with Fidel, played by David Licauco, about their different perspectives on the poor and the rich. Fidel thinks that it is only right for the poor to become poor as they don't do anything to earn or work, calling them lazy.

Klay, meanwhile, as a working student, tried to prove that the poor are trying to make ends meet and it's just that the rich or the higher class are making it harder for the poor to have better lives and called for the rich to make the changes.

The exchange evolved into a heated argument which netizens and fans alike did not fail to notice, calling the exchange “intense,” especially the part where Klay slapped Fidel.

“Ang intense ng eksenang 'yon. Kudos to Barbie and David!” a netizen commented.

“Hands up to that mini-debate between Klay and Fidel. They both proved a point,” another one stated.

“FiLay tandem is not all about them being a couple or whatever, it's them putting something into the show,” another user stated, taking note that both characters were not in the original novel.
