Barbie Forteza and Dennis Trillo, thankful for the support received by 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'
Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza and Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo thanked everyone who watched and supported their new historical portal fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra.
In an interview with Audrey Carampell for "Chika Minute" on 24 Oras, Barbie was thankful that fans appreciated her work in the pilot episode of the series.
Barbie plays Klay, a working nursing student who tries to make ends meet while trying to pass her Philippine History subject.
The actress even mentioned how some netizens commented how they can relate to Klay's sentiments in a scene where she is questioning her professor about the need to study Noli Me Tangere, which then jump-starts her on her journey.
“Everything na mangyayari dun sa mundo ng 'Noli Me Tangere,' through Klay's eyes. [Ang goal] ko talaga [ay] maging as captivating, engaging si Klay,” she said.
She added “As an actor, it's very fulfilling na na-appreciate ng mga tao 'yung ginawa ko - ginawa namin.”
Dennis, meanwhile, thanked everyone who watched the pilot episode, saying that they want to give importance to the viewers' time in watching their show.
He plays the role of Crisostomo Ibarra, the male protagonist of Jose Rizal's novel, and the love interest of Maria Clara played by Julie Ann San Jose.
He expressed his excitement when viewers finally see the scene where his and Barbie's characters meet for the first time.
“Excited na rin ako na makita nila 'yung eksena namin na 'yun, kung paano kami magtatagpo, kung papaano kami magi-interact. 'Yung galing sa present na makiki-interact dun sa mga tao sa past,” he said.
Dennis also said that there's a lot to learn from the series, especially about nationalism and being courageous.
“Kung ano 'yung sa tingin mo tama, ipaglalaban mo. Marami kayong makikitang mga eksenang ganun sa serye na ito,” he added.
