Why David Licauco and Barbie Forteza's 'FiLay' is the loveteam to watch
Not only did the hit fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra give viewers some of the best scenes, acting, and lessons in life, it also gave them one of the hottest love teams on TV today, FiLay, or the loveteam of Fidel and Klay.
In the reimagined version of Jose Rizal's thought-provoking works 'Noli Me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo,' Klay gets transported into the story and met the characters of the novels. One of those characters is the businessman and friend of Crisostomo Ibarra (Dennis Trillo), Fidel, played by David Licauco.
As the story progressed, fans started seeing the chemistry between the two, especially during intense argument scene in which fans noticed their potential as an onscreen couple. Because of this, many viewers started shipping them together, and thus, paving the way for the rise of the FiLay love team.

Klay and Fidel
Klay and Fidel could not see eye to eye at first especially since they have different views on a variety of matters. At one point, they even had an intense argument about gender equality.

The two would have disagreements on a variety of topics several times. In fact, during the earlier parts of the story, they couldn't stand the sight of each other.

After Klay started staying at Maria Clara's (Julie Anne San Jose) place, she attended a party and Maria helped her to look more beautiful and refined, a transformation that Fidel did not fail to notice.
Friendlier
Being friends with Ibarra, Fidel and Klay started getting friendlier although there would still be arguments here and there.
Fidel the calm and Klay the angry
Despite Fidel slowly accepting Klay and even flirting with her, Klay would still get annoyed with Fidel's antics at times.
Cheese
Despite Klay's disagreements with Fidel, the young man still likes her and even gives her a block of cheese, which the Gen Z appreciated.
The 'almost' kissing scene
As Fidel continues to court Klay, he almost kisses her which caught Klay by surprise.
Kilig
Fans could not help but feel 'kilig' in the scene, despite their lips not touching, as Fidel assured Klay that he will be there for her.
Being there
During the time when they traveled by boat, Klay was belittled by some of the passengers for not being able to ride one and Fidel made sure he is there for her in her time of need.
Promise
When Crisostomo goes missing after being snuck out of jail, Fidel promises that he will protect Klay. She then asks Fidel to make a promise that he would not die.
Heartbroken
As both grew to love each other, Klay and Fidel were heartbroken when they finally had to say goodbye.
