"Ang Mahiwagang Baul" is a special program designed specifically to appeal to children. It is a weekly anthology aimed at entertaining kids through a retelling of Philippine myths, legends and folktales. "Ang Mahiwagang Baul" seeks to rekindle the interest of Filipino children in the richness of our Philippine folk literature. It will feature well-loved legends, myths, fables, folktales, and epics that will help our children develop a deeper understanding, love, and pride of their own culture. Everything starts when siblings EPOY and JEWEL find an enchanted "baul" in their grandmother's (LOLA TACIA) house during one of their visits. In the beginning, the siblings have no interest in the folk tales and various Philippine legends that their grandmother frequently recounts and shares with them. They would rather watch cartoons or play computer games. In fact, if their parents didn't cajole and put them up to it, they would never visit their grandmother. But things will change once they discover the chest and its fascinating objects. Soon enough, they discover a stairway inside the chest. When they decide to follow the steps and explore its depths, this marks the beginning of an adventure they will never ever forget. It is within these adventures that the myths and legends of Filipino folklore come to life. After every adventure, the kids come back with lessons learned.
