Amy Austria admits she surrendered to God after battling drug addiction
Seasoned actress Amy Austria turned emotional during her interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda as she recalled the time she surrendered her life to God after battling drug addiction.
In the Thursday episode of the said program, the Hearts On Ice actress admitted that she once used illegal drugs during her early years in show business.
Here, Amy talked about how drugs led her to deception and made her do things that were unlikely.
“Its very deceiving, kasi akala mo nagagawa mong normal pa rin, nakakapagtrabaho ka pa rin pero hindi mo alam unti-unti kang lumulubog, unti-unti kang nawawala sa wisyo mo, nade-deceive ka na pati 'yung paniniwala mo, naiiba na,” she said.
“Paano ka nakalabas?” Boy asked Amy.
“Si Lord lang talaga,” Amy answered.
“Sabi ko kay Christopher De Leon gusto na ulit mag-retreat, three days 'yung retreat, sabi ko lang sa kaniya, 'Lord, tanggalin mo 'to hindi ko kaya, I admit hindi ko kaya. Alam mo 'to na six years kong tina-try alisin pero hindi ko kaya ayoko na. I surrender, iyo na 'to,” she continued.
After that retreat, Amy admitted that God had truly helped her, and she became better beyond her expectations.
“Pag-uwi ko ng bahay after that retreat, nawala na. 'Yung six years na tina-try ko on my own sa sarili kong kakayahan, ginawa ni Lord [in three days].
“Sabi ko, 'Ayusin mo ang buhay ko, i-computerized mo, i-program mo. Ikaw na bahala kung saan ako papunta. I think that's the first time na talagang I surrender my life to him,” Amy claimed.
Amy described how surrendering to God transformed her life from being dark and hopeless to being bright and aligned.
She said, “Since then umayos lahat, gumanda lahat, smooth lahat, nalagay sa tamang puwesto ang lahat. 'Yung hindi ko akalain na mangyayari sa buhay ko, ni hindi ko pinapangarap, sobra pa sa naiisip ko, inaakala ko, inaasahan ko [ang dumating].”
