MJ Lastimosa takes a short break in 'Eat Bulaga' to do a movie
MJ Lastimosa is thankful to Eat Bulaga for allowing her to take a short break from hosting to be part of the upcoming movie Take Me to Banaue.
"Napaka-supportive din ng Eat Bulaga sa acting projects kaya nagagawa pa rin natin ito," says former beauty queen in an interview with select media, including GMANetwork.com, recently.
It's been a while since MJ did an acting job because of the pandemic. Because of this, she admitted to being anxious during the beginning of their shooting.
She related, "Actually, may kind of anxiety. Most of my work right now, if it's not online, it's in a studio where it's very controlled ang environment--hindi pwede lahat pumasok, everyone's tested. But this time, I go to a different place, maganda naman ang Baguio, pero medyo maluwang na kasi ngayon, di ba?”
"Naka-bubble pa rin naman yung [shoot] ng movie, limited pa rin ang puwedeng makasalamuha. But at the same time open kasi, siguro dulot na rin yung ng pandemic and the whole duration of the quarantine. Sobrang tagal na rin naman, inabot na ng dalawang taon," she added.
Nevertheless, MJ said she easily adapted to the new normal.
"I'm just being grateful for the fact that we are working outside again. I just savored the moment na we're able to go out and work and play my character which is very interesting. I'm excited to see the outcome of this project."
While, admittedly, MJ enjoys hosting on the longest-running noontime show, she is equally grateful for being offered with acting jobs.
She said, "I am more like just being grateful of all the work right now. Kasi, ang dami talagang realizations especially noong 2020, noong wala tayong puwedeng gawin, we're just stuck in our homes. Talagang ako, whatever opportunities there are in front of me, I'm just counting it as a blessing."
In Take Me to Banaue, MJ will portray the character of Paloma, the mentor of Grace (played by Maureen Wroblewitz) in doing escort jobs for foreigners.
Joining MJ and Maureen in the movie are Thea Tolentino, Boobay, and American actor Brandon Melo. Take Me to Banaue is directed by Danny Aguilar under Carpe Diem Pictures.
