What to expect from the relaunch of 'Bubble Gang' on May 27
For more than 26 years, multi-awarded Kapuso gag show Bubble Gang has been the breeding ground of the best-of-the-best comedians in the country and has won countless recognitions from several award-giving bodies.
Starting May 27, the award-winning gag show will be showcasing an exciting relaunch to their loyal Kababol, introducing new and fun segments that will surely tickle their funny bones.
In addition, the gang will also welcome five new cast members, namely Kokoy de Santos, Faith da Silva, StarStruck heartthrob Kim de Leon, Dancer-YouTuber Dasuri Choi, and Tuesday Vargas!
Members of the GMA internal press got the chance to interview the show's Senior Program Manager Cecille de Guzman and its creative director Michael V. on Friday, May 13, to share this exciting development about the country's longest-running gag show.
Ms. de Guzman revealed to GMANetwork.com that the whole team has been assessing the future of the program since last year.
She explained, “Last year [2021] pa actually, it was shared by Bitoy nung time na binubuo namin 'yung anniversary special. We were assessing Bubble Gang then, kung nasaan siya ngayon, kung paano pa tayo makakapagpatawa in time na medyo hindi masaya, hindi masaya 'yung sitwasyon ng lahat ng tao.”
The Bubble Gang executive then continued that they also observed that the COVID-19 pandemic became a springboard for many comedy talents through social media like TikTok.
“Isa sa mga napansin namin, naging opportunity for many content creators ang pandemic. Nagkaroon sila ng opportunity na makapag-share ng talents nila sa pagpapatawa in different platforms.
“Ina-acknowledge namin na lahat 'yun iba-ibang paraan ng pagpapatawa.
“Yan ba ang maasahan natin sa relaunch? Yes!” de Guzman said.
Kababol viewers can expect some of these online sensations to be featured in the Kapuso gag show beginning May 27, but not all these talented content creators are ready to go mainstream.
She explained, “Not all of them, willing to go mainstream. Mas kumportable sila doon sa na-establish nilang personality nila sa iba-iba nilang platforms.
“But some of them, for example si Common Sense Teacher [Lottie Bie], we found out later on na nung kinakausap namin siya na fan pala siya ng Bubble Gang, matagal na. She used to work in ABS-CBN, but she's a fan of Bubble Gang. In fact, Bubble Gang ang naging inspirasyon niya for her materials.”
“Meron mga content creator na ganun, ready to go to mainstream, ready to join Bubble Gang, but not all of them ganun. Bukas ang Bubble Gang talaga sa lahat ng mga ganyang klaseng creators.”
For his part, Bubble Gang pioneer Michael V. stated that this new chapter of the show is essential and inviting these talented content creators will be a plus factor for the show in the long run.
“Hindi naman porke na-establish na namin 'yung sarili namin as a comedy show, e, wala ng room for improvement,” Direk Bitoy said.
“Kasi kagaya nga nung binanggit niya [Cecille de Guzman] nag-iiba 'yung platforms, e. Kung gusto natin mag-grow talaga, dapat i-explore natin 'yung mga platforms na 'yun. That's exactly what we do.”
