Andre Paras admits to feeling nervous when he was offered a role in 'Abot Kamay na Pangarap'
Kapuso star and Sparkle artist Andre Paras admitted that he was nervous when he was offered the role of Doctor Luke Antonio in the afternoon medical series Abot Kamay na Pangarap.
In his interview for GMA Regional News TV 'Bistalk', Andre said that while he was open and ready to accept any role, he was nervous when he was offered to play Doc Luke in the series since for him, “just to be able to portray a doctor, it's a huge responsibility already.
“Kasi I know it's huge shoes to fill in because you have to make it believable, you have to make sure na maintindihan ka ng mga tao,” he added.
Andre said, however, that once they finished training and went into an immersion at a hospital to familiarize themselves, he became more at ease with his character.
“Kahit sa mga eksena po namin, pag may mga kailangan na mga medical terms or mga medical scenes, meron po kaming mga doctors na on stand-by who can guide us with the script,” he added.
Andre is known for being not only a basketball player, but also a sports analyst for the NCAA which made his role as a doctor very different from his personality and life. Asked how he can relate to Luke, he answered, “I'm just thankful at the side of being a friendly person.”
“Doon ako nakaka-relate because I'm very approachable and I'm someone who'll always be there for you,” he added.
He also stated how during the first parts of the story, his character was always there for Dra. Annalyn Santos, played by Jillian Ward, “to make sure that she's always welcome.”
“Kumbaga I'm always taking care of her kasi marami nag bubully sa kanya and I'm always that person, kahit sa school, yung nang-aaway, parang nag sasabi na, 'Uy, hindi naman tama yung ginagawa niyo,'” he added.
