Dingdong Dantes on Genesis: "Expect a show that will uplift the Filipino spirit."

Kapuso royalty Dingdong Dantes will be back soon on primetime TV via Genesis, a sci-fi drama about love, family, and patriotism while the world is coming to an end. GMANetwork.com had an exclusive interview with the Primetime King during the show's pictorial last September 10, and Dong candidly talked about his character Isaak, being reunited with his former co-stars Rhian Ramos and Lorna Tolentino, and whether Genesis will be his last Kapuso show or not.

"I play the role of Isaak, isa siyang security detail ng Vice President ng ating bansa so he's a nationalistic person. He has so much values, very idealistic. And then all of a sudden, lahat 'yung ay mawawala. Magiging cynical siya dahil naa-kusahan siya sa isang krimen na hindi niya ginawa. So mawawala ang hope niya. But then, one day, he will be given the biggest task of his life, which is to save people na mahalaga for the future. Mabigat talaga ang nasa kanyang mga kamay," says Dingdong about his new character.

He admits his current role is a far cry from what he has portrayed in the past. "Dito kasi he gets to save people. Kumbaga, it's the struggle between giving hope to people kahit wala na siyang pag-asa sa sarili niya. In a sense, wala pa akong nagawang ganoong klase, na ganoon ka physically na mahirap sa ibang show ko. I think this one is also visually big, in terms of visual effects, special effects. This is really different."

Does he consider Genesis as his biggest project? "Yes, definitely. In terms of show, the bigness of the show, and the complexity of the character, yes."

Dingdong also hinted on what loyal Kapuso fans can expect from the upcoming series. "Expect a show that will give you daily visual feast, that will uplift the Filipino spirit in terms of hope. Expect love, a story of a strong family. Basically it's a drama about hope and love."

Genesis is also his on-screen reunion with Rhian Ramos and Lorna Tolentino, whom he has worked with in Stairway to Heaven and Pahiram ng Sandali, respectively. "After working with Rhian in Stairway to Heaven, siyempre in every working relationship, it gets better and better so I'm happy to be working with her now. [As for Ms. Lorna,] nanggaling kami sa Pahiram ng Sandali, and I am as equally happy to work with her also."

When asked if Genesis will be his last project with the Kapuso network, this is what the dashing leading man had to say. "Ang importante, let's just all remember that it will start sometime in October. It's going to run for a duration of a normal season, so 'yun na muna ang abangan nila."
