IN PHOTOS: Stephen Curry: 'It feels great to be back'
During the press conference of his Asian Tour 2018, NBA champion Stephen Curry lets the media see him eat halo-halo and reveals why he loves Pinoy fans
Halo-Halo
This was not the first time the 6'3 Golden State Warrior got to eat halo-halo. Stephen Curry already visited the country three years ago. "I have a sweet tooth so I liked it a lot. It's been three years, so I'm excited to try it again."
Perfect Meal
As if on cue, a man in a barong carrying a bowl of halo-halo suddenly appeared on stage. Curry gamely took spoonfuls of our popular dessert. Asked if it's better than his first experience, Curry answered, "This is amazing. This is the perfect post-workout meal."
Back in Manila
Asked how it feels to be back in Manila, Steph replied, "Feels great. There's so much support here in the Philippines and all of Southeast Asia, for what we do on the court, for what I do and what I represent." Curry added that he would make the most of his visit in the Philippines.
Hard Work
Curry admitted that he's excited about NBA's 73rd season, which begins in October. That's why he has been working so hard the past weeks (even when he's on tour) because he wants to keep his game at a high level. "We want more, that's why you work so hard in the off season. It's why you put in the hours every single day to get into the right mindset, to get your body ready, and to take advantage of a very short basketball career and try to win as many championship titles as you can."
Game Changer
Stephen Curry tried to downplay "the one that changed the face of the game" tag that sports experts have bestowed upon him. He said, "The way I play is the way that I know how to play and the way I'm comfortable playing and what I've worked on since I can remember. You know, stretching my range out, working on ball handling and things like that."
High Level
Curry, who is now in Manila for his three-city Asia Tour 2018, admitted that he couldn't believe how basketball has changed over the years. "It's unbelievable to think about how the state of the game is now versus when I even came in the league almost 10 years ago, based on just shooting the ball and shooting at a high level, and stretching your range out when the defense doesn't know when you're about to shoot. For me, it's natural, it's what I know."
Design Collab
Wearing a white Under Armour SC30 Asia Tour Three-Sy shirt, Curry is grateful that an international brand has given him the opportunity to collaborate in designing the Curry 5 shoes. "It's definitely a step towards the right direction."
More Championships
Stephen Curry, who is set to fly to China and Japan in the coming weeks, wants to return the love to his Pinoy fans by being a good baller. "[I will] Try to be great on the court and [keep] chasing championships. I want to be part of that and give the fans in the Philippines something to be proud of."
