Singer-comedienne Fe Delos Reyes wishes to restart showbiz career in PH

Fe Delos Reyes to release new single “Hoy, Ikaw Na Naman” in January 2023.

Three decades after she left the country, singer and comedy actress Fe Delos Reyes feels like it's about time to go back to her first love, her showbiz career.

“Umalis ako in 1993. I had to make a hard choice because it was the height of my career here. But then, I also thought of having a family--35 na ako no'n, gusto ko nang magka-baby, gusto ko nang magkaasawa,” Fe recalled when asked why she left showbiz during an intimate interview with GMANetwork.com and other select entertainment media held recently.

She continued, “I went to the States to actually have a family and to look for my sister. Kasi, I have a long-lost sister, whom I've never met. So, that's my reason for going to the States.”

Like other celebrities who have left the limelight, Fe also had to start over when she arrived in the U.S.

She related, “Actually, we did a musical called Amerikana: Made in the Philippines, it's based loosely on my story. When I moved to the States, nawalan pa ako ng mga papeles, ginawa ko ang mga ginawa ng mga Pilipino. Marami akong pinagdaanan, from being an immigrant and bumuhay ng isang pamilya.

“Iba ang buhay sa Amerika, masaya na mahirap. You know, siyempre, kapag magbe-baby ka, makakalimutan mo [ang sarili], ang priority mo ay yung baby. Wala namang yaya-yaya doon, e. I have to take care of my family and my husband.”

While building her own family away from home, Fe was fortunate to be given opportunities to still perform.

“I never left entertainment and I've been doing it in America,” she said.

Apart from stage shows, Fe also did acting projects, most recently in a short movie titled Zenaida. She is also set to appear in the romantic-comedy film set in New York, the Asian Persuasion, which will also feature KC Concepcion, Yam Concepcion, Rachel Alejandro, Black Eyed Peas' Apl.de.Ap, among others.

Fe noted about her passion for singing and acting, “Tuluy-tuloy lang. Sabi ko nga, I never left the karnabal. Kapag pinanganak ka sa karnabal, balik at babalik ka sa karnabal. So, hindi ko siya iniwan. Doon ko nasabi na I am blessed--nagkaroon ako ng pamilya, pero nandiyan pa rin ang showbiz.”

PH showbiz career restart

Now that her youngest daughter is about to graduate, the actress-singer wishes to restart her career in local showbiz.

“So, ano na, tapos na ang obligasyon,” she quipped. “I have more time. My husband and I, mas libre kami ngayon. And I miss it here. I have to stay here longer, hindi puwedeng pasulpot-sulpot lang. I wanna stay here longer to do more regular gigs and TV shows, concerts. Nakaka-miss, e.”

She starts by releasing a new single titled “Hoy, Ikaw Na Naman,” under RJA Productions LLC. Written by Cecile Azarcon-Inocentes, the upbeat song depicts the typical and romantic Filipina who likes to play hard to get.

“I think it's a nice song, ano lang siya, very light,” Fe briefly described her song.

“Hoy, Ikaw Na Naman” was recorded and released in 1994 by Ciel Perlas as part of an all-Azarcon penned album compilation titled Ciel at Azarcon under VIVA Records.

Now, after almost three decades, “Hoy, Ikaw Na Naman” is being given a chance to shine on its own as a single release with vocal recording and interpretation by the singer-comedienne.

Currently, Fe is still based in America, but she will return to the Philippines next month in time for the official release of her new song.
