Andrea Torres, emotional after meeting artist who painted her scenes from 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'
Maria Clara at Ibarra actress Andrea Torres could not help but get emotional after she met the artist who made paintings of her as her character Sisa from the series.
In a report of Nelson Canlas on 24 Oras, Andrea was expecting a sitdown interview to discuss her plans for Christmas, but Nelson prepared a surprise for her instead. The actress was visibly moved after seeing the paintings, and hugged the artist behind them.
“Oh my gosh, kamukhang kamukha ko. Tsaka andami niyang ginawa,” she said.
Patrolman Marcus Borromeo painted 14 paintings, showing the different emotions Sisa has gone through throughout the series.
“Hindi ganun klaro 'yung mga linya at details kasi sa puso at isip ko, habang nagpipinta ako, may desisyon at may tanong akong iniiwan na 'Anong gagawin ko next?'" he said.
He added, “Kasi iba po talaga 'yung dating n'yo sa akin ma'am.”
Andrea also met Joven Paz, a fan of the series, who was thankful for inspiring young people like him and kids to rediscover the works of Dr. Jose Rizal.
The actress also met with drag queen Andy Crocker, who reenacted Sisa's iconic scene in the series where she slowly descended into madness. The two were emotional when they met each other.
Andrea, meanwhile, couldn't be happier that she was able to inspire others to learn and hone their craft more.
“Habang tumatagal ka parang may wini-wish ka e na sana may maiwan akong something bigger than myself,” she said.
She added “Parang ito 'yung contribution ko in my own little way. In my own little way, naka-tulong ako.”
Maria Clara at Ibarra is GMA's hit fantasy series about Klay (Barbie Forteza), a nursing student who was transported into the world of Noli Me Tangere. There, she meets Maria Clara (Julie Ann San Jose) and Crisostomo Ibarra (Dennis Trillo).
