IU finishes concert despite ear condition discomfort and donates to charity
Korean actress and singer IU has just wrapped up her two-day concert, The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun.
IU was quoted to have said during her concert, "There is a slight problem with my ear, so I was very nervous while preparing for this concert. Near the end of yesterday's show, my ears started to worsen in condition, and from last night until the rehearsal today, the past day has been like hell for me."
She continued, "It's not something serious, but I haven't been able to control my ear conditions for around a year now. I stepped onto the stage today not knowing what to do, but truly, you guys did everything for today's show."
In her documentary for the concert, the singer revealed she was diagnosed with patulous eustachian tube, in which the auditory tubes in the ear remain open, making her unable to hear her own voice, breathing, ringing as well as other discomfort in the ear.
"My ears are a little bad these days. My ears open on their own, so my hearing is similar to how you hear when yawning. When I hear myself sing, it becomes too loud and rings. When I'm anxious, there is a pressure that becomes greater when I sing, so my ears open more easily," IU said in the documentary for The Golden Hour.
The sold-out concert, titled The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun, garnered around 80,000 fans over two days at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul.
The highly-anticipated occasion marked IU as the first Korean female solo artist to perform at the venue, one of Korea's largest performance spaces.
The concert also marked her 14th anniversary since debuting as a singer-songwriter in 2008 and her first in-person live concert since her Love, Poem world tour in 2019.
IU also recently celebrated her 14th debut anniversary by donating to a great cause.
The singer donated 100 million Won (approximately PhP4.1 million) to health organization Asan Foundation, as well as 100 million Won to the Seoul Metropolitan Child Welfare Association. Her agency EDAM Entertainment shared the news on Instagram.
