Isabelle Daza's late father Bong Daza is honored at presidential inauguration

By Bianca Geli
Isabelle Daza posts a touching tribute for her father at the presidential inauguration.

Isabelle Daza and her mom, Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, were present at the Presidential Inauguration 2022 last June 30.

The actress-TV host posted the seat dedicated to his dad, where his photo was placed.

She captioned, "History in the making."

Though Isabelle's father, Gabriel “Bong” Daza III Daza, passed away in July 2016, his memory was commemorated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who was a close friend of Bong Daza.

During Isabelle's wedding in September 2016, former Senator Bongbong Marcos walked her down the aisle.

Bongbong's eulogy for his late best friend also made rounds on the internet.

The newly-inaugurated president recalled his fond memories with Bong Daza, and praised him for his humility.

“He was so charming and outgoing. He really wanted you to have a good time. Pero noong unang nakilala ko si Bong, inaasar ako. Pero nakikita ko yung trato niya sa ibang tao ganun din.

"At yung ang natutunan ko kay Bong. Lahat ng tao pantay-pantay ang tingin niya. Kahit sino. Kahit mayaman ka, kahit mahirap ka, pantay-pantay. Para kang best friend. That's the one thing I learned from Bong," PBBM said.

He added, “Kung meron man akong natutunan kay Bong, 'yun ay ang kanyang pagkatao. It was hard for me because I was exposed to people in a strange context. The greatest quality he had was that he was so open and so sincere. When he wanted you to have a good time and wanted you to eat, he really did."

He stressed, "Hindi kaplastikan yun. Hindi being polite. Gusto niya talagang masiyahan ka.

He also nostalgically related, At saka parang kiti-kiti yan. He cannot stand in one place. Pinapagalitan pa niya ako. Sabi niya, andito ka sa Paris, wala kang ginagawa. Tara, punta tayo sa ganun. Alas singko ng umaga he would wake up para mamili ng isda sa palengke sa Paris."
