LIGHTSUM releases first mini-album 'Into The Light'
K-pop girl group LIGHTSUM, who debuted last July 2021, finally held their first in-person media event to showcase their newest EP, Into The Light, seven months after releasing “Light a Wish.”
During the media press conference held last May 24, LIGHTSUM gave an insight as to what their newest mini-album represents, how their new songs differ from their past ones, and what went down during the preparation process.
Nayoung, main vocalist and lead dancer of LIGHTSUM, shared that Into The Light highlights the varying emotions felt by each of the members in a candid and bold attitude.

Chowon, the main vocalist, also added, “The difference from our previous singles is since our new album is an EP, it contains tracks of various genres filled with each of our member's charms and vocal colors.”

In their hopes of delivering positive energy to their fans, as suggested by their group name LIGHTSUM--which means 8 LIGHTs coming together as one SUM to bring more positive energy to people--the group's newest mini-album focused on teen spirit and covered a wide range of genres from R&B to Alternative Pop.
Into The Light features five new songs including their title song “ALIVE,” rapper and maknae Jian's recommendation “Bye Bye Love,” “i,” a dreamy song recommended by sub-vocalist Hina, comforting and uplifting “GOOD NEWS,” and full of vibes song “Q.”

LIGHTSUM's latest EP is also released in two versions, “The Class,” which showcases the group's funky teen style school look, and “The Team,” which highlights the members own energy in a ravishing and lovely sporty look.

Branded as one of the hottest rookie girl groups in 2021, LIGHTSUM has yet again proven to everyone that they deserve the title with their powerful comeback performance of their title track “ALIVE,” during the media showcase.

The K-pop girl group who dedicated their time and effort to perfecting their performance said that they underwent almost eight hours of practice just to showcase their strong individual characteristics along with their synchronized dance moves to the world.

Just like Chowon's inspiration (G)I-DLE, the K-pop girl group whom she admires for creating new trends and trying various concepts, LIGHTSUM also aims to try various concepts to find their own color so more people can notice them and be branded as the “performance experts.”
LIGHTSUM is a South Korean girl group formed in 2021 under Cube Entertainment. The eight members are Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, Yujeong, Huiyeon, and Jian.
