"The question is, are we willing to hurt people for our own happiness or not," says Paolo.

Versatile Kapuso actor Paolo Contis is hopeful that the public can relate and, in turn, learn a lesson in his newest film, A Faraway Land.

A Faraway Land tells the story of Nico (Paolo), a journalist who is creating a documentary about successful OFWs.

Set in the Faroe Islands, Nico will then have a "complicated relationship" with a married Filipina named Majhoy (Yen Santos).

"Someone makaka-relate sila sa character ko or ni Yen sa pelikulang na 'to. Hindi natin alam kung kailan tayo magmamahal," the I Left My Heart in Sorsogon actor said in a message to GMANetwork.com.

"The question is, are we willing to hurt other people for our own happiness or not."

Aside from the story of Nico and Majhoy, the public will also get a chance to virtually travel to the Faroe Islands, a Danish territory located southeast of Iceland.

"The Faroes was so beautiful. Para kang nasa ibang mundo," Paolo said.

"Challenge lang talaga 'yung lamig nung lugar at lagi kaming naghahabol ng araw kasi 6 to 7 hours lang ang daylight nila during the time na nandun kami.

"But we had a great team. Yen also did a terrific job."

A Faraway Land is under Mavx Productions, the same company behind Through Night and Day, Netflix Philippines' top Filipino film for 2020 starring Paolo and Alessandra de Rossi.

A Faraway Land will be available worldwide on Netflix starting August 19.
