Say hi to Macoy Marcos from the CSB Blazers basketball squad
Born on July 7, 2000, Joshua Miguel Marcos or Macoy is one of the players to watch out for from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Blazers.
The team is entering Season 96 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) with redemption in mind after falling short of entering the Final Four in Season 95.
The squad finished the elimination round with a 9-9 win-loss record to settle for fifth place overall in the men's seniors basketball tournament.
Blazers coach and retired PBA player, TY Tang, said that more than skills, the Blazers need to develop the mental toughness to enable them to hop on to the next level.
“We've been there but we just couldn't get over the hump,” said TY, who himself was a champion college player as part of the De La Salle Green Archers.
“So all that matters right now is us being more mature in terms of facing pressure, being able to handle and manage the rollercoaster ride throughout the season.
“Kasi there were games like last season we went 5-0 at the start then all of a sudden we couldn't win.”
Good thing Macoy, along with teammates Robi Nayve, Miguel Corteza, Ladis Lepalam, and Kendrix Belgica, are all determined to tow the Blazers to the Final Four for the upcoming season.
In the meantime, get to know more about Macoy and some of his favorites in this profile.

Dad's gift
“My Dad was a basketball player when he was in college. He introduced me to the sport and taught me how to play it,” the BSBA-HRM student said.
“For me, the best thing about my sport is that it lets you know yourself more, discover other capabilities that you have, and it develops your character on how you face real-life situations.”

The grind never stops
“Rosary and tissue,” are Macoy's must-have during every game day.
When asked how he keeps himself ready for the season, he answered: “I prepare my body by eating and working out properly. The most important thing is showing consistent effort and drive each and every practice.”

A fan of…
Macoy's favorite music artists are Lany, Ben&Ben, and Neyo.
The student-athlete loves action movies, apparently, that he wants 'Fast & Furious' star Vin Diesel to portray him in a movie.
By the way, he also likes to watch K-drama!
Proving doubters wrong
Macoy was cut on the varsity team when he was in grade school for being “overweight” and “slow.”
“That motivated me every day to work hard and reach for my dreams,” he said.
