Paolo Ballesteros designs national costume for Binibining Pilipinas candidate Honey Cartasano
Eat Bulaga dabarkad Paolo Ballesteros has once again dazzled his fans as he recently unveiled his latest creation: the national costume of Binibining Pilipinas candidate Honey Cartasano.
Aptly named “Higantes Queen,” Cartasano said her traditional costume was inspired by the Higantes Festival, held annually in Angono, Rizal, the province she's currently representing.
“An interpretation of the traditional Maria Clara costume inspired by the giants of Angono's Higantes festival,” it said.
“This joyous event is celebrated every 4th week of November, where paper maché 'higantes' are paraded on the streets of this historic town.”
According to the released statement, the material Paolo Ballesteros used for the costume was traditional piña.
“As she turns around, Maria Clara is transformed into a bright, colorful, and towering Higantes we see during the annual parade. A unique piece, emblematic of Rizal's rich culture,” it concluded.
In her Instagram post, the candidate thanked Ballesteros for his unique creation and said she couldn't wait for everyone to see the beauty of her national costume in person.
“The Higantes Queen is finally out! I can't wait for everyone to see and know more about my national costume, but let's leave it as it is for now and wait a little longer for the actual presentation.
“For now, I want to thank the person behind my national costume, @pochoy_29! Thank you so much for the opportunity to wear another masterpiece showing one of our province's BIG and colorful festival.”
This isn't the first time the Eat Bulaga host dabbled in costume design.
In 2019, Honey Cartasano also became his muse when he created a one-of-a-kind suman-inspired national costume for the same beauty pageant.
