Ian Batherson talks about his experience on ‘Survivor Philippines’, who his bet is to win the title of first celebrity sole Survivor, and his partnership with Ahron Villena. Text by Karen de Castro. Natanggal siya sa double elimination halfway through the competition, pero proud si Ian Batherson sa kanyang na-achieve during his twenty-day stay sa isla sa Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown. “Para sa’kin po, it was my time to go. I did the best I could,” says Ian. “Actually, parang I did good pero hindi yung best ko, pero ganun talaga, ganun pa rin yung mga votes so wala akong control sa mga ganun. I just feel it was my time. Proud naman ako sa sarili ko kasi I stayed a long time. So ganun talaga, hindi ako nag-quit. I did good on some challenges. Masaya din ako kasi sobrang saya nung experience. Not everyone can stay for twenty days.” Was there anything he could have done differently para mas magtagal pa sa isla? “I don’t think so,” he begins to say, and then, “Okay, actually, yeah. Sana nagpa-Mystery Island na lang ako, ‘coz if I went to Mystery Island, I could’ve controlled some of the outcomes. Pero I was too tamad.” What was his most unforgettable moment sa Survivor? “Yung scorpion challenge, when I faced off against Solenn, tapos nanalo ako,” he reveals. “Pero meron pa. Gusto ko rin yung sleeping challenge kasi sobrang nakakatawa. It’s so funny, like sobrang unpredictable. May mga masahista, may fan sila, may music, then they start massaging you, sobrang unpredictable. It was a really funny, really classic challenge. It was really funny. It was those two that really stuck out of my head.” Sino naman ang kanyang bet sa mga natitirang castaways ang kanyang bet para maging unang sole celebrity sole Survivor? “I like Ervic [Vijandre] and Aubrey [Miles] and how they play the game. They’re pretty good,” reveals ian. “And kaibigan ko sila, and you know, if ever they make it that far, I hope they win.” Meanwhile, ang mga fans ng Survivor ay natuwa sa naging partnership ni Ian at ng recently voted-off castaway na si Ahron Villena. Ano naman ang reaction ni Ian dito sa tinatawag ng mga fans na ‘RonIan’ partnership? “Alam ko talaga sa sarili ko, tapos si Ahron, alam niya yung sarili niya. I’m not gay. Mahilig ako sa mga babae!” answers Ian. “I would consider him a good mate, a good friend. I don’t know about brotherhood. I know we were good friends.
