Rhian Ramos confesses finding balance in New York in latest magazine shoot
In 2019, Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos flew to New York City to take up improv classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade for six months as a way to “explore her talents in TV and movies.”
But for her latest magazine cover shoot, Rhian confessed that there's more to her trip than meets the eye.
According to the Love of My Life actress, she decided to take the extended break from showbiz due to her need for a change of pace.
Confessing, “I just felt like my life had come in so many stages and it also moved so quickly.
“The showbiz stage was where I've gotten to a point of asking, 'What the heck is happening?'
“I had no adult experiences outside of showbiz because I started at 15 just like everyone else I knew. I just couldn't remember a life that was not shown.”
Rhian added that being in showbiz took a lot of toll on her to the point that director Ricky Davao had to stop her from “taking her character home” in Stairway to Heaven.
She recounted, “I think I have just gotten so addicted to the feeling that at one point, he came up to me and said, 'You need to stop putting yourself too far into the scene. I can see you're hurting yourself.'
“So yea, that's why I wanted to leave for a little while because I wanted to just find all the parts in real life that I wanted to enjoy.”
Flying to New York and gaining her independence was a breather for the actress, as she describes the experience as something that gave her a “sense of balance.”
“When you kinda feel that you're in a rut or something, there is nothing that makes you see everything more clearly than not being in that situation and just looking at it from the outside,” she said.
“I think what I just needed was a sense of balance. Now I know where I'm taking my life and what I want to achieve that I didn't even know what I wanted before.”
In an interview for GMANetwork.com back in March 2019, Rhian admitted New York allowed her to grow up and given her a sense of gratitude for the people around her.
Adding, “'Cause when you're living alone, you have no choice but to do things for yourself or else everything will fall apart.
“Since everyone is in such a rush trying to do things for themselves and because their schedules are so packed with all the chores they have to do, no one has the time for you there.
“But, I have to admit that the city [New York] knows that there are so many people just out there trying to achieve things in life.
“And the city does whatever it can to help you do that.”
Today, Rhian is starring in the GMA Telebabad show Love of My Life starring alongside Carla Abellana, Mikael Daez, and esteemed actress Coney Reyes.
