Earth Day will be on the 22nd of April 2010. It’s the 40th Earth Day celebration where people are invited to partake in a celebration for self-awareness about Mother Nature. To celebrate the 40th Earth Day, GMA Network’s one night commemoration "One Earth, One Journey," An Earth Day Concert was hosted by Richard Gutierrez.
The concert served to create awareness about problems and issues concerning the milieu. Richard was also a host before of an environmental show called “Full Force Nature,” which discussed issues about environmental problems in the Philippines. As an advocate of environment, he was the perfect choice to get behind the mic.

It was a night where people around the world were one in celebrating the 40th Earth Day.
The program was a reality check for the people who have forgotten how to care for the environment.
Before any song or performance, they showed a video clip to show the audience the importance of caring for the world we all live in. The Philippines was once a green and verdant land where you could find the beauty of our natural resources everywhere you looked. Now this is no longer the case. Land erosion, floods and the drought (El Nino) are all caused by our neglect of the environment.
Water, one of the most important aspects of life, is slowly being destroyed by humans themselves. Human waste and garbage pollutes our waters. Oceans that were once safe to swim in have become dirtied.
Natural habitats of plants and animals continue to be destroyed. And if we do not take responsibility, our world will die.
Part of the program was Green Peace Philippines, an independent non-government organization that is active in upholding issues concerning the environment, particularly global warming and climate change.
Some of the country’s top concert performers and recording artists took part in the concert meant to share with the world more awareness of the issues facing us today. Among them were Kyla, Jay-R, Mark Bautista, Rachel Ann Go, Cooky Chua, Gloc9, Julianne, Noel Cabangon, Juie Ann San Jose and Buboy Villar.

In addition to that, some of the country’s best bands rock the stage too such as Pupil, Freestyle, Hale, Spongecola, Callalily, Urbandub, Nyko Maca and Playground. Moreover, some of the Kapuso stars gave their share for Earth Day by demonstrating helpful tips that they practice themselves for the preservation of Mother Nature’s various resources.
It was a night that served as a call to action against climate change and other pressing environmental issues. And for the next generations of Filipino youth was this message from Francis Dela Cruz, Public Outreach Coordinator ng GreenPeace Philippines, "We have an unwritten contract para sa mga susunod na generation. We will try to make this world a better place to live in." --
