Dingdong Dantes fulfills duties as navy reservist amid COVID-19 crisis
Dingdong Dantes fulfilled his duties as a navy reservist as he joined his colleagues in the Marine Affiliated Reserve Combat Service Support Batallion (MARCSSBn) in a relief effort for the benefit of their fellow reservists who are deployed at checkpoints.
They handed out food packs prepared by his wife Marian Rivera, goodies, and PPEs to the uniformed personnel who are at the frontlines in battling the spread of COVID-19.
In his Instagram post today, May 21, Dingdong said that this is their way to pay tribute to the members of the reserve force who are voluntarily risking their lives to help others.
"Isang pagpupugay at pasasalamat sa lahat ng reservists na volunteers at ilang linggo nang naka-deploy sa iba't ibang lugar sa Luzon para tumulong sa ating mga kababayan," Dingdong said in the post, accompanied by a photo of him where he can be seen wearing his camouflage uniform, while standing beside his Caltex standee.
From the rank of master sergeant, Dingong was promoted to lieutenant commander by the Philippine Navy on January 27, 2020.
Philippine Navy flag-officer-in-command Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad and the Kapuso actor's wife, Marian Rivera, donned his rank insignia.
In a statement released by the Philippine Navy, it said that Dingdong "also holds the position of Assistant Vice Chairman of Logistics Support Group of Front liners Brotherhood Incorporated (FBI) which is affiliated to PN Affiliated Reserve Units (PNARU) program and placed under the Marine Affiliated Reserve Combat Service Support Batallion (MARCSSBn)."
Dingdong has been a marine reservist since 2006 and commissioned in the reserve force in 2019.
