Angel Locsin apologizes on Twitter for endorsing Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III in the past
Television and movie actress Angel Locsin took to Twitter yesterday, March 26 to apologize for endorsing Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III in the 2007 elections.
The senator received flak from netizens after supposedly breaking the quarantine protocol when he brought his pregnant wife Kathryna Yu-Pimentel to the Makati Medical Center.
It was later learned that the senator was positive for the COVID-19, thereby exposing a number of health workers to the virus. His actions were tagged as irresponsible and careless by netizens and doctors.
In a statement released by MMC Medical Director Dr. Saturnino Javier he called out Senator Pimentel for his "irresponsible" actions.
"We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this COVID-19 outbreak,"
Senator Pimentel addressed what happened yesterday at the Makati Medical Center and apologized to MMC.
"I never intended to breach any protocol but I realize now that my presence in MMC unnecessarily caused additional anguish and concern to the courageous frontline health workers we all depend on. I was simply there to be with my wife during the birth of our daughter,"
"I shall be open to any communication the MMC would want to have with me about this. I just ask for everyone's understanding and compassion and allow me first to recover from COVID-19,"
Meanwhile, Angel Locsin expressed her frustration over Pimentel's actions on Twitter. She also asked for forgiveness for endorsing him when he ran in the senate more than 13 years ago.
She also revealed that Senator Pimentel's ex-wife Jewel Mae Lobaton is her cousin.
