Pops Fernandez enjoys work behind the scenes
From concert queen to concert and movie producer.
Pops Fernandez is among the few celebrities who continue to be in show business by working behind the camera.
The Concert Queen said she initially wanted to continue the legacy of her mom, Dulce Santos Lukban, in producing shows and concerts, so she willingly took over the management of the latter's production company called DSL Events and Production House.
“Ever since, lahat ng concerts ko, was my mom, DSL [Dulce Santos Lukban], was the one who produced it.
“Siyempre, gusto ko naman i-continue 'yung kanyang legacy.
“Ayaw kong gumawa ng sarili kong production kasi hindi naman ako magiging Pops Fernandez kung hindi dahil sa DSL.
“Kumbaga, this is in honor for my mother also, pinapasalamatan ko siya sa lahat ng ginawa niya for me.”
After several shows and concerts here and abroad, the 52-year-old singer-actress seemed to have enjoyed working behind the scenes that she continues to work as a producer and seldom appeared as a singer or actress in public.
“Siguro mas naengganyo lang ako. But it's a lot of work also, so it takes a lot of my time,” Pops told GMANetwork.com and other entertainment reporters an interview recently.
She added that as a producer, she is able to release her creative juices and apply it to her projects.
Pops related, “Gusto ko siya. I can still create. I'm still creative. I have a lot of inputs.
“Kumbaga, kung 'di ko nagagawa sa sarili ko, nagagawa ko through others.
“It's my ideas, my concept, so I like seeing… Kumbaga, kung ano ang na-picture ko sa mind ko, gusto ko yung napapanood ko rin siya.”

This year, Pops takes on a new challenge by co-producing the romantic-comedy movie Feelennial with Cignal Entertainment.
She agreed to some observations that the movie industry is not doing good right now.
Thus, she said in jest, “Wala na rin akong choice. Walang choice kasi naumpisahan na siya at natapos na siya.”
She then added, 'Talagang this [Feelennial] is with a lot of prayers and a lot of confidence that we do have a very good project.”
Pops also stressed that she wanted to find out if she can expand her company to movie production.
“I think napaisip ako. Siyempre, I definitely want our investments to be back,” she said.
“But I think in life if we don't try it, we'll never know.' Yun ang motto ko in life, e.
“If I wanna do something and I'm so into it, I wanna try it out at least once in my life because you'll never really know.
“If you keep stopping yourself, you'll never know na, 'Ay, pwede ko palang gawin 'yun! Ay, nagawa ko pala 'yon.' I think that's what it is.”
Nevertheless, Pops remains proud of her first movie, which features the first team-up of comedy actors Aiai Delas Alas and Bayani Agbayani.
She said, “It's very interesting. 'Yung pelikula po talks about the times of today.
“'Tapos, of course, sa social media, sa technology na 'yon. But at the same time, mayroon din siyang puso.”
Directed by Rechie del Carmen, Feelennial opens in cinemas today, June 19.
