Atom Araullo feels flattered and honored with homecoming in GMA
Thirty-four-year-old broadcast journalist Atom Araullo was recently the talk of the town after his transfer to GMA was first revealed via 24 Oras. His homecoming to the Kapuso network was also featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. Now, he works on his first GMA documentary entitled Philippine Seas.
The celebrated TV reporter said of his homecoming, “Obviously, I’m very flattered [and] very honored that they would go out of their way to produce this kind of welcome for me. At the same time, it’s also a little unusual bilang isang reporter [dahil] usually, ang camera [ay] nakatapat sa [kabilang] direction [and] not towards you so when you get that kind of attention, I’m not used to it.”
He adds, "I am happy that people are interested enough to talk about it, but I have to prove I’m worth the hype or worthy of all these attention.”
Atom is bringing in 12 years of his experience as a journalist to the Kapuso viewers, “I’ve done research work and writing work for documentary programs. I was a field reporter for many years. [I can impart] my own insight on certain issues that I hope to share, and I hope it’s enough. ‘Yun lang ang maisip ko na pwede kong maidagdag in an already stellar organization.”
He thanked the Kapuso network for his career expansion, “This is a new stage and GMA has been wonderful in giving me opportunities to develop my Journalism, and I want to maximize that. I want to make the best out of that.”
