They are still struggling to make a name in the country, but vocal trio JBK took a leap of faith and traveled for 24 hours across the globe with one goal in mind – to be the first boy band to bring the Filipino brand of music to the audiences abroad.

JBK composed of Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario, and Kim Ordonio won the respects of professionals, fellow artists, and music enthusiasts when they auditioned at the X-Factor UK. They performed their own rendition of Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down.’

Joshua recalled in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, “Pagod na kami pero nung nakita namin ‘yung mga judges, na-starstruck kami and ‘yun, na-excite kami. Grabe ‘yung kaba namin pero nagawa naming kantahin ‘yung dapat kantahin namin.”

The trio claimed to be big fans of the reality TV music competition long before, and that they were also inspired by the all-female Filipino singing group 4th Impact’s performance and the warm reception they got from the British audience. But more than that, JBK gambled on this once-in-a-lifetime chance, armed with their sheer talent, to pursue their ultimate dream.

Bryan said, “‘Yung dream namin na to make it to the international scene, ‘yun ‘yung nagmo-motivate sa amin to have that international recognition as a Pinoy boy band."

“Luckily naging okay din ‘yung feedback nung mga British public sa amin. So, we’re really thankful for that,” he added.

JBK got the four nods of the X-Factor UK judges, and are off to face challenges in the next level of the competition.

Kim shared their plans, saying, “Ang next namin ngayon ay boot camp kaya babalik kami. Kasi next round na kami, nakapasok kasi kami sa auditions, and nakakuha kami ng four yeses. Ngayon nagpe-prepare kami ng Bruno Mars para maiba lang. Kasi nag-‘Lay Me Down’ na kami, medyo ballad, slow. So this time naman, medyo danceable.”

While the trio warms up for their return to London next week, JBK in the meantime will treat their fans via GMA Network’s Artistambayan happening tomorrow, September 21. They will also grace the Playlist stage before capping off September.
