Steve Harvey on consecutively calling Miss Universe Colombia and Miss Universe Philippines for the top 13: 'I can't believe this is happening again'
Miss Universe Colombia Andrea Tovar to Steve Harvey: “A lot of people hate you but me, no. I love you.”
Steve Harvey, who hosts the Miss Universe pageant for the second successive year, finds himself in a somewhat tense and awkward situation after calling Miss Universe Colombia and Miss Universe Philippines consecutively in announcing the Top 13.
Steve called in Miss Universe Colombia Andrea Tovar for the next round. Instead of asking her a personal question, the host opted to ask Colombia’s opinion about him, referring to his mistake last year in announcing Miss Universe Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the crowned winner.
“A lot of people hate you but me, no. I love you,” Andrea said, and gave Steve a hug.
She then proceeded to speak in her native tongue, to which Steve jested, “Was that a death threat?”
The American comedian-host then announced Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina as the next candidate who qualified for the Top 13.
“I can’t believe this is happening again. This is crazy. What the hell,” he exclaimed.
He then proceeded to ask Maxine about the advice she got from her aunt who also joined Miss Universe in 1990.
“She just told me to be myself, and to be more confident since it’s gonna be here in the Philippines,” the Pinay beauty queen said.
Will it be a head-to-head competition again between Miss Universe Colombia and Miss Universe Philippines for the 65th Miss Universe?
