Mikee Quintos' dream for her music: to make people feel
Even with her busy schedule for Encantadia and other engagements, Mikee Quintos still makes time for what she has loved since she was little – music.
“Music is my go-to… [I remember, when I was younger] iniiyakan ko pa 'yung mga gitara na gusto kong bilhin,” she said.
Her parents recognized that her heart was so much into it that they helped her build her own small studio.
“I want the gadgets para mas maganda 'yung quality ng [sound], so sobrang pinilit ko pa mom ko for that. Ilang birthdays 'yun na iniisa-isa ko 'yung mga gadgets na ‘Ma, next year, ito naman, ha?’ Until nakumpleto ko 'yung studio sa room ko,” she shared.
Because of the financial and emotional investment she put into it, she hopes to be able to translate the passion and love to the ears and hearts of her listeners.
“Sometimes, I listen to music tapos I let it affect me. May dream din ako na someday, pakinggan ako ng mga tao na boses ko 'yung naririnig nila tapos it’s gonna make them feel din,” she added.
Mikee, in more ways than she realizes, has touched her supporters with her angelic voice and unique style. When she took on "Ang Awit Ni Lira" for Encantadia, she gathered one million views for the clip in the span of only a few months. When she sang it for the Playlist, she got over 100,000 views after 24 hours since it was uploaded.
The rising star said that she’s not after recognition but is motivated by the possibility to touch and inspire in whatever little way she can.
“I don’t really care about the fame, pero hinahangaan ko ['yung mga nagco-cover sa YouTube], people na nag-ce-create ng music na hindi gaano kasikat pa, like common people [who share their craft]. Sabi ko I wanna be like that din,” she concluded.
