Year in Review: Music hitmakers of 2024
The year 2024 is truly a good one for music because not only did it make way for more tracks to scream and dance to, but it also produced some of the best singers that are behind our LSS (last song syndrome) for the year.
From OPM stars like BINI, Maki, and TJ Monterde to international artists like Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, and more, the world has heard diverse tracks that are worthy of every Billboard and Spotify chart.
Will 2025 give us more tracks to sing along with? We are yet to find out.

BINI
Indeed, no introductions are needed for the Nation's Girl Group BINI who took the P-pop industry by storm with their hits like “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” “Lagi,” and “Cherry On Top.”
After they staged a three-day concert at the Big Dome in November, BINI is now preparing for their biggest show yet: “Grand BINIverse: The Repeat” on February 15, 2025, at the Philippine Arena.
Hev Abi
Also included in the list is Spotify Wrapped 2024 most-streamed male OPM artist Hev Abi who influenced the country with his hip and rap songs like “Walang Alam,” “Babaero,” “Lil Kasalanan Shortie,” “Alam Mo Ba Girl,” among others.
Dionela
This 2024, a new R&B artist has emerged with his meaningful and catchy songs like “Sining,” “Marilang,” and “Oksihina” -- Dionela. He currently has 7.6M monthly listers on Spotify alone.
Maki
The Philippines found a new meaning of love with Maki's releases that captured the hearts of many Filipinos like “Bakit?,” “Saan?,” “Kailan?,” “Dilaw,” and “Namumula.”
On November 29 and 30, Maki staged a successful solo concert at the New Frontier Theater.
TJ Monterde
OPM icon TJ Monterde captured the hearts of lovestruck Filipinos with his iconic love song “Palagi.” To make it sweeter, he also released a version featuring his partner and fellow OPM artist KZ Tandingan.
Denise Julia
Dubbed the “Patron Saint of Situationship,” Denise Julia released some of the most relatable songs, especially for those who are stuck in “situationships,” like “NVMD,” “Butterflies,” “B.A.D,” “Lackin,” among others.

Rising artist mrld shared some of the sweetest and LSS-worthy tracks like “Sandali,” “Ikaw Pa Rin,” and “Ligaya” that were received well by Filipino listeners.
Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars has been in the music industry for a decade, but he easily played along with a new generation of artists with some of the biggest songs today, like his collaborations with Rosé for “APT.” and with Lady Gaga for “Die With A Smile.”
The TikTok community is also up on their feet with his fun track “Bonde Do Brunão.”
Taylor Swift
With the success of the recently concluded “Eras Tour” and albums on the side, Taylor Swift could easily make the lists of some of the biggest hitmakers of the year.
Billie Eilish
There is no way but up for pop icon Billie Eilish who has released hits after hits including “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.” She was also recognized as Spotify's top artist with the most monthly listers in August.
Sabrina Carpenter
Women around the world found a new inspiration and icon with the continuous rise of Sabrina Carpenter on the charts, with some of the biggest hits today like “Espresso,” “Bed Chem,” “Juno,” and “Please, Please, Please.”
Olivia Rodrigo
The Philippines' favorite pinsan (cousin) Olivia Rodrigo did not disappoint the music industry this 2024 with her successful “GUTS World Tour” featuring tracks from her albums GUTS and SOUR.
Chappell Roan
Another rising star the world has watched this 2024 is American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan who took the industry by storm with her amazing discography that speaks to people with topics about sexuality, queerness, and defying the norm to embrace one's authenticity.
Some of these include “Good Luck, Babe!” “HOT TO GO!” “Pink Pony Club,” and “Casual.”
KATSEYE
This 2024, the world saw a different side of a girl group that mixed Western and K-pop culture through the multi-national group KATSEYE composed of Sophia from the Philippines, Manon from Switzerland, Daniela, Lara, and Megan from the U.S., and Yoonchae from South Korea.
