Julie Anne San Jose apologizes over controversial church performance
Julie Anne San Jose issued an apology over her controversial church performance in Occidental Mindoro. The Limitless star said that her only intention was to share the joy and give support through the benefit concert.
In an Instagram story, Julie wrote, “I am offering my apologies. Even though my only intentions were to share joy and to give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident I was in and with my performance which caused distress. I truly, sincerely apologize. This is a lesson learned and it is assured that it will not be repeated.
“I am not perfect but please know that I have strong beliefs and my faith is unbreakable and cannot be shaken. I pray that we can all move forward with compassion in our hearts. Thank you,” she continued.
Likewise, GMA network's talent arm, Sparkle Artist Center, published a statement, expressing their support for Julie, adding that they will be taking full responsibility for her attendance at the event.
The apology on Instagram read, “Sparkle GMA Artist Center takes full responsibility for Julie Anne's attendance at this event. It is our job to coordinate and clear details with the organizers and relay instructions to our artists.
“Julie Anne only fulfilled her duties and commitment as a true professional, She is a devout Catholic and had no intention of disrespecting the Church and its members. We are truly sorry to those we have offended. We hope that this puts the issue to rest. We apologize to Julie Anne as well.
“Moving forward, we will be more vigilant in our coordination efforts to ensure such incidents do not happen again."
Fans expressed their support for Julie, saying that she only did her job and their belief that it was not her intention to disrespect.
Julie Anne received backlash after she performed songs during the benefit concert that netizens deemed inappropriate for the setting.

The cat is out of the bag! It was revealed that Julie Anne is set to star in a musical trilogy billed Limitless.
“I've never done this before and it's something intimate and personal,” Julie Anne said about the project.

Months after it ended, the series Heartful Café top-billed by Julie Anne San Jose and David Licauco reemerged, this time on the popular streaming platform Netflix.
“First time ko rin na magkaroon ng ganung klaseng role kasi usually 'yong mga roles na napupunta sa akin mga drama, palagi akong kumakanta,” Julie Anne told GMANetwork.com.
“It's also something na makaka-relate din 'yong mga tao because it's not just a regular rom-com, may mga stories din siya about life, about love, about coffee, about everything else tapos parang roller-coaster ride talaga siya and I bet that it's something that everyone would enjoy watching.”
Hearftful Café made its debut on Netflix Philippines on October 14, 2021.
