"Surreal" marks the official debut of SB19's Justin as a solo recording artist. The song was released on February 29 at 12:00 a.m. via Sony Music Entertainment.
Meaning of "Surreal"
SB19's Justin wrote "Surreal" two years ago. Referring to his first solo single, he said, "It's all these scenarios that are unlikely to happen in the real world, but you find them as an escape from reality, so you continue to dream and dream... And surprisingly, you found someone who enjoys imagination as much as you do."

"Actually po ever since na bata pa ako, growing up parang may something special with nature, forest, trees. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero may something na 'yun ang gusto ko palagi kapag nagbabakasyon kami parang gusto ko sa gubat," Justin said of the inspiration for his visual for "Surreal."
Collaboration
SB19's Justin collaborated with Radkidz's Pablo and Josue in "Surreal," adding dynamism to his vision for the song. Justin shared, "At first, when I wrote the lyrics with an initial melody, I thought they'd just tweak it. But the beautiful track they did, rich in harmonies and embellishment, sounds so fresh and new to my ears that I somehow forgot I wrote it in the first place. Both of them really enhanced my demo with a song that exceeded my expectations."

Locations
In the "Surreal" music video, the flower gardens with beautiful views of mountains and clouds were filmed at Northern Blossom Flower Farm in Atok, Benguet. The forest scene was shot in Zambales and the rest took place in South Korea. Justin explained why they went to South Korea, he said, "Pinuntahan namin talaga para lang sa snow kasi 'yung kanta mayroong winter."
