Being awarded and supported by fans is truly a bliss for Filipino celebrities. As they keep on shining with their talents and passion, there are stars who are also recognized internationally. But not just being acknowledged, but also nominated and awarded by some prestige global festivals.
Here are some celebrities who won global awards and participated in projects:
Heart Evangelista
As the Global Fashion Icon Queen, Heart Evangelista is very known in the industry of fashion, art, and even social media. She usually attends on fashion shows like Paris Fashion Week, Paris Couture Week, and the recent New York Fashion week 2023. Heart also got to be in the cover of fashion magazines like Harper's Bazaar Indonesia and was also included in 2023 Asia's Most Influential Person list.
Dolly De Leon
Filipinas actress Dolly De Leon became an inspiration among her colleagues after she got nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the 2023 British Academy Film Awards of BAFTA and the equally prestigious award-giving body Golden Globes. She was recognized for her role as Abigail in the award-winning film, Triangle of Sadness. For the same role, Dolly bag her second Best Supporting Actress award in the Guldbagge Awards, an annual Swedish film awards. This was after she was hailed locally as Best Supporting Actress by the Gawad Urian. She was also nominated in the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards for Best Supporting Performance.
Anne Curtis
With her stunning looks and aura, Anne Curtis also built her name in the fashion industry globally. She also visited important fashion shows and events around the world, and appeared on cover magazines like this year's Vogue Korea. She also won awards as actress in International Film Festival and Awards-Macau and Asian Stars: Up Next of 2018.
Zephanie Dimaranan
Sparkle artist Zephanie also made her name known globally with her talent in singing. She also became a part of Republic Records, the same international record label of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Zephanie was also among the 11 representatives that were chosen globally to train at the Now United Creative Hub created by American Idol creator, Simon Fuller. Recently, she was included in the celebration of Disney's 100 years project as singer of the Tagalog version of 'Wish' movie theme song titled "Aking Hiling."
Joaquin Domagoso
With his splendid acting, Sparkle star Joaquin Domagoso won as Best Youth Actor at the New York Cinema Independent Awards with his starred film, The Boy in the Dark. He also won at the Boden International Film Festival in Sweden, 2022 Five Continents International Film Festival in Venezuela, and the 16th Toronto Film and Script Awards.
SB19
Hailed as Kings of P-pop, SB19 is globally known with their hit songs and splendid talents. Their song, "Gento" became popular with its catchy music and solid choreography which became a mega hit on TikTok. Following this, netizens outside the Philippines, including famous K-pop idols, joined the "Gento" dance challenge. They also had guest appearance on American shows like 'Good Day New York' and performed concerts abroad. They also won awards like Group of the Year at SEC Awards in Brazil and several awards in Asia Artist Awards 2023.
Ben & Ben
Folk- pop band Ben & Ben is surely famous across the globe as they win several awards and perform on stage here and abroad. With their hit songs like “Maybe the Night” and “Pagtingin" , the band gathered international fans including Korean star Day6 Young K, leading a collab special project with their song, 'Leaves'.
Barbie Forteza
Not just in the Philippines, but Barbie Forteza's fame also reached international. With her previous hit drama 'Maria Clara at Ibarra,' the Primetime Princess was nominated as Outstanding Asian Star at the 2023 Seoul International Drama Awards along with Kapuso stars Julie Anne San Jose and and Dennis Trillo. This is not Barbie's first international appearance as she won the FANTASPORTO 2016 Best Actress at the 36th Oporto International Film Festival in Portugal.
Dingdong Dantes
Kapuso Primetime King, Dingdong Dantes greeted the year 2023 with an international award as Best Actor at the 2022 TAG Media awards in Chicago. The Kapuso actor received the award for his mini-series I Can See You: AlterNate where he plays the dual role of Michael and Nate. Hailed as Best Actor, he was tied with Piolo Pascual who was recognized for his role in the crime series Flower of Evil. Besides receiving an award, Dingdong is also a global endorser as he became the first Filipino endorser for the Italian brand Police Eyewear. Adding to that, his ad even reached New York city's Times Square.
