Vina Morales makes Broadway debut in 'Here Lies Love'
Vina Morales joined the list of Filipino talents who starred in a Broadway show after finally taking the mantle of Aurora Aquino in the all-Filipino cast of 'Here Lies Love.'
Vina made her debut in 'Here Lies Love' beginning September 22. She portrays the role of Aurora Aquino for 31 shows until October 22.
"My Broadway debut was magical. You made it all magical. I am overwhelmed by the love and amazing reviews. I made it to Broadway!" she wrote on Instagram.
"A dream come true and another checked on my bucket list. Now I can say I am a Broadwayactor. To God be the Glory."
Vina also thanked her co-stars in 'Here Lies Love,' especially internationally-acclaimed Broadway superstar Lea Salonga, who also serves as co-producer of the show.
Lea portrayed Aurora Aquino from the show's opening night in July until her final performance on August 19. Reanne Acasio played the character between Lea and Vina.
"To all our producers, production team, and amazing casts, thank you all for the love and for welcoming me with love and positive energy," Vina continued in her post.
"I can feel it in the room when you raised a welcome toast for me! I was in tears of joy."
'Here Lies Love' is a disco-pop musical based on the concept music album by David Byrne inspired by his research on the life of the former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Before embarking on her new journey as a Broadway star, Vina had already made a name for herself in the Philippines as a singer and actress.

Vina took on the hat of Aurora Aquino after a five-week stint by internationally acclaimed Broadway superstar Lea Salonga, who also serves as one of the show's co-producers.
Nakagapos na Puso
Before joining the Broadway musical 'Here Lies Love,' Vina already made a name for herself in the Philippines. She made her film debut in 'Nakagapos na Puso,' along with Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Edu Manzano, and Tonton Gutierrez.
Hanggang Saan Hanggang Kailan
In 1994, Vina was nominated as Best Supporting Actress at the 1994 Gawad Urian Awards for the movie 'Hanggang Saan Hanggang Kailan,' co-starring with Dina Bonnevie and Alice Dixson.
The Sarah Balabagan Story
In 1997, Vina was chosen to portray OFW Sarah Balabagan who was sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates for killing her employee who attempted to rape her. For this movie, Vina was nominated for the Best Actress Award at the 1998 FAMAS Awards.
Singer
Aside from being an actress, Vina is also a recording artist with multiple albums released since she started her show business career in 1990.
New York International Music Festival
Vina made history when she became the first Filipino to sing at the New York International Music Festival held at Palms Hotel in Las Vegas in 2003.
