Icee Ejercito starts her singing career

Another Ejercito officially joined showbiz and she's Gary Estrada and Bernadette Allyson's eldest daughter Icee Ejercito.

Icee, whose real name is Gabrielle Bernice Ejercito, was recently introduced as the newest artist of Universal Records.

In a previous interview with GMANetwork.com, Icee mentioned that she really wanted to follow in the footsteps of her parents, who are a popular couple in showbiz.

However, unlike them, Icee wanted to focus on her singing talent.

“I really wanna be a singer. Hopefully, I reach concert-level,”she said in jest.

Both Bernadette and Gary were surprised that their kids would have music talents because none of them has.

“Hindi ko aakalain dahil ako ay dancer, host, and acting. Sa aking asawa, action star,” Bernadette said.

Gary jokingly added, “Sabi ko nga, sa buhay ko, gagalingan ko na ang umarte para wala nang sayawan at kantahan. IIwasan ko yung sa karera ko.”

However, Bernadette said she already knew that her daughter has a singing voice when she was still a child.

“She loves music,”she said about Icee. “I don't know if she remembers, pero yung birthday of Gary in 2005 or something, we're in Cebu, she was about four years old, I think. She volunteered to sing with a band ng 'Through the Fire.' Baby pa siya no'n, pero yun ang kinanta niya. Yun ang first sign na, 'Uy, parang pwede.'”

Likewise, Icee recalled, “It was my cousin who discovered that I could sing. I think I was singing in the shower, grade three. Then, I brought it up and said, 'I wanna do lessons.' I did lessons for a few years, I did piano lessons as well.

“Now, I'm teaching myself to play guitar. Ever since third grade, I think I was nine, I fell in love with singing and music.”
